SNRA Labor Day Activities
Trails and Backcountry of the Sawtooth NRA
On Thursday, September 3, 2010, Ed Cannady will present an evening program on the “Trails and Backcountry of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area”. Join Ed, Backcountry Recreation Manager, for a journey on his favorite trails. Redfish Lake Visitor Center will host the program at 8 PM. The presentation is free and open to the public.
For additional information contact the visitor center at 208-774-3376 from 9:30 to 4:30 Friday to Sunday.
Labor Day weekend Evening Program
As the Corps of Discovery traversed Idaho, nature presented numerous challenges. Join Mike Crosby, lead historian at the Sac Center, for a presentation titled “Lewis and Clark Traveling Medicine Show”. Dressed in period attire, Mike will share a collection of materials taken by the expedition to survive in the unknown country obtained by the Louisiana Purchase.
The evening program will begin at 7:30 PM on Saturday, September 4, hosted by the Redfish Lake Visitor Center. The center is located 5 miles south of Stanley. For additional information, call the center at 208-774-3376 Friday through Sunday.
The presentation is free and open to the public.

Highway 21 is now open
As of now, Highway 21 is open and will remain that way unless the weather causes the fire to shift back towards the highway. UPDATE: The highway is still “open” with around 20-30 minute delays due to the pilot car and single lane.

Heavy winds pushed the Banner Fire northwest Saturday and increased the area to approximately 1000 acres.
