SKI TRAILS GROOMED FOR CHRISTMAS
The sky at dawn on Friday, the 24th of December, was streaked in pink and blue colors, like some happy painting done by an elephant. The temperature at 8 a.m. was 1 degree above zero but rising toward the perfect comfort zone for an early afternoon ski date. The cross country trails at Alturas Lake and Park Creek should be a fitting reward this Christmas weekend for skiers who have done their best to be nice and not naughty this year. At Alturas, the flood waters on North Cabin Creek have frozen solid and the trail there can now be navigated… All other trails except for Sheep Thrills are groomed and looking good. At Park Creek all trails are groomed for skating and classic and reportedly in excellent condition.
