1 foot of new snow on ski trails
On Friday evening one foot of snow fell in the Sawtooth Valley as what started out as a very wet storm cooled down and dried out a bit. The last Saturday of 2011 has started out sunny and cold with the temperature around 15 degrees in Stanley at 10 a.m. Good news… grooming has begun at Park Creek where rolling and packing of trails took place this morning. And we are hoping to roll at Alturas Lake later this afternoon. Expect trails to be very very soft until a night or two of freezing sets them up for some great skiing in the new year.
Sawtooth Ski Trails not good!
Sorry, but during this ongoing storm cycle, temperatures ranging from 32 to 38 degrees have made trail grooming impossible at the Alturas Lake and Park Creek ski areas. On Wedneday, the Trail to the Lake, Wapiti and Over the Hill were rolled at the Alruras Lake Ski Area.
