SOFT SNOWY SKI TRAILS

Saturday morning in the Sawtooths and another soft grey snowy day begins. The temperature at 9 a.m. was around 10 degrees. At Alturas Lake the last two storms left 8 to 16 inches of new snow on the ski trails. All the trails there were rolled for skating on Thursday and Friday. A few kilometers of classic track were set on the east side of the bridge on Friday as well and will be added to today. Starting around 10:30 a.m. we are hoping to give all the trails a further GInzu treatment and the resulting corduroy and classic grooves should be fab. If you don’t mind a little snow filtering down from above, kick and glide your way through the serene Sawtooth snowscape at Alturas Lake this presidents’ day weekend. The Park Creek trails were groomed on Thursday but are now covered in several inches of snow. The Park Creek snowmobile and the back up grooming snowmobile both had to be sent to Twin for emergency repairs and will not be back until next week. We may be able to roll the trails with the back up back up machine on Sunday or Monday but for the best Sawtooth ski trails this weekend and the immediate future head to Alturas Lake for your cross country ski adventure.
