ALTURAS SKI TRAILS NICE BUT COLD

On Wednesday morning, December 7th, the sun is shining full force on the Sawtooth Valley but the temperatures are still cold…only a few degrees above zero at 10 a.m. Low snow conditions have forced the curtailment of grooming at Park Creek where packed trails are rough and not recommended. However, at the Alturas Lake ski area, a thicker snow pack has allowed for much better trail conditions. South Loop, Over the Hill, and the Trail to the Lake are groomed for skating and classic skiing, however the classic tracks are blown over in some meadow areas. Wapiti and Sheep Thrills are groomed for skating, so North Cabin remains the only trail blocked and ungroomed at this time.
