FIRST GOOD SKI WEEKEND??

The trails at Alturas lake should offer some good early season ski opportunities this weekend despite a thin snowpack, soft shoulders and predicted cold temperatures. South Loop, Over the Hill and The Trail to the Lake as far as the bridge junction have been groomed for skate and classic. Wapiti is groomed for skate only. These trails all look pretty good. The trail to the lake from the bridge junction on has been rolled to a rough state and Friday’s grooming is scheduled to improve that trail with Ginzu grooming for both skate and classic. North Cabin and Sheep Thrills are both still blocked by downed trees which we are hoping to clear sometime this weekend. The lake is not yet frozen.

At Park Creek, Camas, Sego and Shooting Star trails have been packed and rolled but are a bit rough and thin on snowpack. The new snowmobile at Park Creek is still going through a 100 mile breaking in period but we expect to finish that up and be pulling the ginzu groomer there soon.
