Cold Alturas Ski Trails
On Thursday, January 12th, 2012, the temperature in the Sawtooth Valley had sunk to a chilly 17 degrees below zero just before sunrise. However, with any luck, it could rise to a rather chilly high of 24 above by afternoon. On Wednesday, grooming at the Alturas Lake ski area took place on all the trails to the east of Alturas Lake Creek. Expect to find refreshed skate lanes and classic tracks on South Loop, Over the Hill, Wapiti, Sheep Thrills and the Trail to the Lake as far as the bridge junction.
