Good Ski Trails… cold temperatures

On the 7th of January, 2012, the temperature at the Sawtooth Valley Ski areas was around zero degrees at 8 a.m. but it should warm up as the sun crests the mountain horizon, with a predicted highs of 25 to 30 over the week end.

At Park Creek all trails were freshly groomed yesterday, with both skate and classic tracks on lupine, camas, shooting star and skyrocket.  Larkspur is groomed for skate or touring.

There is quite a bit of ice forming on camas, we will continue to try and groom around it, but the trail will be soft around that area.

At Alturas Lake, the flooded area on North Cabin Creek trail has frozen solid and the trail is once again open and rolled for skating and touring. Watch out for that icy patch near the creek as there is no groom-around possible there.

All other trails are groomed for skate and classic except for the Sheep Thrills which is open again but lacking classic tracks on the last little loop. And there are a few meadow areas where the classic grooves have blown in.
