Grooming friday morning at alturas lake ski trails

On Friday morning whispy cloud strands materialized from the ether and moved slowly though the tree studded glacial moraines of the upper Sawtooth Valley. A single red wing blackbird clung to a bare aspen branch, surveying the scene, waiting for his mates to arrive. At 9:30 a.m. the temperature was  around 20 degrees at the Alturas lake ski area where a morning grooming session was scheduled.
