Well, the groomer has stopped running and the snow is dwindling fast. This will be the last snowmobile post until next winter. April 30 is the official end of the season, but with all the rain and warm temps we’ve been having, I doubt the riding is very good. Time to bust out the other toys – dirt bikes and 4-wheelers! We still have great riding around here, you just have to switch up your equipment. Thank you to all the groomer committee volunteers, coordinators, and operators for a great season! And thank you to the snowmobile clubs who continue to ride here year after year and who generously donate towards our program every season. We hope to see everyone back next year! Happy trails !

Good Morning Sled-Heads! It seems that our 2010 Grooming Season is coming to a close. The groomer is no longer maintaining the trails around the Stanley area and the snow poles and markers are being picked up almost as we speak. We are are receiving a light rain in town right now, but snow may still be falling out towards Banner Summit and the Bear Valley area. I have heard that the snow out near Bear Valley is still some great riding. The forecast is calling for rain/snow mix today and tomorrow with snow likely tomorrow night through Thursday. Please take precations while riding the area as rocks and other obstacles are starting to show themselves. Thanks to all the volunteers, the groomer operators, and all the riders for making this a great season! We’ll see you next year!

Good Afternoon sled-heads! The groomer is out and about on this sunny Stanley day getting the trails all dialed in for what should be a big weekend of riding, dancing, and good times all around! It’s Snowmobiler’s Ball, Saturday at Mountain Village! We’ve had a skiff of snow the last couple days; it would be safe to assume more snow has accumulated out west toward Lowman and the Bear Valley/Deadwood areas. Trails are being groomed regularly, so everything should be looking great for the weekend. What I like to refer to as our ”Magic 8 Ball” weather forecast is predicting a chance of snow beginning tonight through Saturday – who wouldn’t like a little powder on the trails? So, make some reservations, grab your buddies and your dancin’ shoes, and come play in Stanley!!

Well, the groomer should be up and running tomorrow, fingers crossed; although its services are not in high demand at this very moment. Snow has been lightly falling all day with no real accumulation to speak of in town. Out west may be a different story. We are not planning on grooming any of the trails this week, but will be back out next week to do the regularly scheduled runs. One of our Idaho snowmobile clubs, Cougar Mountain if I’m not mistaken, is making their annual trek to Stanley next week. Rest assured, the trails will be beautifully groomed for next weekend! (Which is also Snowmobiler’s Ball) Come have some fun with us in Stanley!

Apologies for the late posting…..the groomer was broke-down this last weekend, but should be up and running again tomorrow. A bit of new snow fell Saturday, which should have made for some great trail riding. The trails were in good shape prior to the break-down, with a little powder on top making the riding that much sweeter. Stay posted for more updates later in the week. Remember Snowmobiler’s Ball the 2nd weekend in February! Live music and good times for all!

Happy Tuesday morning! It’s dark and cloudy here in Stanley with temps around 25. Hopefully these clouds will bring us some much needed snow in the next couple of days. Today I hear we have a 100% chance of snow with that percentage tapering off toward the middle and end of the week. We have only received about an inch here in town, but there is around a foot of new snow out west, so the riding should be great with all the trails having been groomed last week, finishing up with Kelly Creek on Saturday. Smiley Creek to Stanley trail was groomed yesterday. Even with our lack of snow, the trail riding is fabulous, so come on up and see us! Don’t forget about the 1st Annual Winter Festival happening here in Stanley on February 20th and 21st. Get your relay team together (snowmobile, ski, snowshoe), run in our “drag race,” come play some hockey, or belly up to the bars for warm drinks and live music. Should be a great time for all ages! As we speak the snow begins to fall, so once again keep those fingers crossed for some accumulation. Happy trails!

A few inches of new snow has fallen in the last couple of days with a string of storms on their way! Keep your fingers crossed for snow! Bear Valley/Lowman trail was groomed yesterday with plans to groom Elk Creek and Stanley Lake trails today. The Kelly Creek Loop may be groomed today or tomorrow depending on operator’s schedules. We currently have no plans to groom the trail to Smiley Creek until more snow falls, but it is still perfectly rideable! Thanks to our hard-working operators, the trails have been in good shape. We haven’t seen much wind yet this year, which has also helped the conditions. Friday’s storm could bring with it a significant amount of snow and wind, so be cautious. Low visibility can definitely become a problem on the flats. Also be prepared for wet conditions. Give the Stanley City Clerk a call at 774-2286 for more up to date reports. Happy trails!
