Sled heads, if you like the snow deep, now is the time to be in Stanley. We are seeing new depths of 4 feet on the trail from Stanley to Smiley Creek. The trail is now groomed from Stanley Lake to Stanley to Smiley Creek Lodge. He said it was a trial making it thru all of the new powder that we have seen in the last week. The drainages off trail are extremely deep so be prepared to dig out.

The groomer will be out later today working on the trail. We are seeing more snow in the forecast for the next few days. Come on up to Stanley and have some fun.

We have snow with accumulation in the forecast for the next few days. Let’s keep looking to the skies for it to add up! The trail has been groomed from Deadwood to Stanley and Stanley to Smiley Creek Lodge in the last week. A few spots to use caution is near the Cape Horn Road and the Cow Camp Road across from the Stanley Lake road. Both are icy and has occasional logging truck traffic. Overall the trail is looking good and will get better with this new snow coming. Get away from the grind and come up to Stanley and put some miles on your sled! We are open and ready for you.

Well Sled Heads, we are quickly approaching the end of our season! You’d never know it though by the amount of snow we still have and are currently receiving here in Stanley! We got around 4 inches of new snow last night – it’s pretty wet and heavy but could make for some fun, adventurous riding. According to the Forest Service, the official end of our grooming season was yesterday, March 15. Due to some mechanical issues with the machine and the weight of the snow and the new accumulation, we have decided to discontinue grooming out west to Lowman and Deadwood. Sorry guys but we’ll see you again next year! The trails were pretty well set before we quit, so as long as the temperatures cooperate the riding out west should still be great. We are planning to groom from Stanley to Smiley Creek and all the local trails (Kelly Creek Loop/Nip & Tuck) in the next couple of days. Come on up and play before it’s all gone!

The groomer is out and about this morning grooming the trail back into Stanley from Smiley Creek Lodge. After that, he’ll be cruising out to Nip & Tuck to do a quick once over to get the bumps out. This last weekend, we groomed into Lowman and Deadwood and back to Stanley as well as Kelly Creek and Stanley Lake. All the local trails as well as the trails out west have been taken care of! We experienced some pretty gnarly winds yesterday, which may have blown some of the trails over a bit. Regardless, with a bit of new snow it should be great riding out there! Come on up and spend some time. Don’t forget that March 12-13 is our 2nd Annual Stanley Sled Dog Rendezvous. Bring your sleds, the trails will be open although you’ll be sharing with some four-legged friends. Take a break and watch the action as the dogs wind their way around Kelly Creek Loop and Nip & Tuck trails. If interested, we may even need some snowmobile-bound volunteers! Contact the City Office at 774-2286 if you’d like to help. See you soon ~

Hey-Hey all you Sled Heads! I hope everyone is gearing up for Stanley’s Annual Snowmobiler’s Ball happening this Saturday the 19th at the Rod n Gun Whitewater Saloon. We are currently getting a bit of snow, so hopefully there will be a little powder on the trails for ya’ll. The local trails were groomed last week, although the groomer did not make it all the way into Deadwood or to the Lowman parking area. We groomed as far as Bear Valley and based on the good condition of the trails, we decided to turn it around. Since we have not been receiving much snow lately, the trails are pretty packed and hard, but smooth sailing for sure. Grab your gear and head on up to Stanley this weekend for what is sure to be a rockin’ good time!

Good Morning sledding enthusiasts! Stanley is clear as a bell and beautiful this morning! All the area trails have been groomed – with only a skiff of new snow lately, they are in great shape. Yesterday the groomer headed out to Smiley Creek and will continue with all the local trails (Kelly Creek, Nip n Tuck, Stanley Lake) today through Thursday. Unfortunately, we will not be making the trek out to Lowman or Deadwood Lodge this week. There has been little traffic coming from that direction, so in an effort to conserve much needed funds we are cutting back until the snowmobile traffic from the Lowman area picks up. If you are part of a large group that plans to utilize that trail, please give us a call and we will make sure that the trail is as good as it can be for you and your pals! The office number is 774-2286 and we are here Monday through Thursday from 8 to 5. The weather this week looks to stay sunny and cold with a chance of snow towards the weekend. Come on up to one of the most majestic places in Idaho! We’d love to have you…………
