<p>Suggested donation is $14.00, check payable to EICAP (Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership, fund manager). Proceeds benefit cancer patients. Any resident in Custer County, in active cancer care, may obtain $600.00 per calendar year to cover miscellaneous expenses.</p>

<p>On Thursday, September 3, 2010, Ed Cannady will present an evening program on the “Trails and Backcountry of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area”. Join Ed, Backcountry Recreation Manager, for a journey on his favorite trails. Redfish Lake Visitor Center will host the program at 8 PM. The presentation is free and open to the public.</p>
<p>For additional information contact the visitor center at 208-774-3376 from 9:30 to 4:30 Friday to Sunday.</p>
<h3>Labor Day weekend Evening Program</h3>
<p>As the Corps of Discovery traversed Idaho, nature presented numerous challenges. Join Mike Crosby, lead historian at the Sac Center, for a presentation titled “Lewis and Clark Traveling Medicine Show”.  Dressed in period attire, Mike will share a collection of materials taken by the expedition to survive in the unknown country obtained by the Louisiana Purchase.</p>
<p>The evening program will begin at 7:30 PM on Saturday, September 4, hosted by the Redfish Lake Visitor Center. The center is located 5 miles south of Stanley. For additional information, call the center at 208-774-3376 Friday through Sunday.</p>
<p>The presentation is free and open to the public.</p>

The timber cutting season in the Sawtooth NRA has been delayed until further notice because of wet and muddy conditions. Call the above phone numbers to check on the opening dates information next week. Thank you for your patience.</p>
<p>TRAIL INFORMATION: As a rule of thumb stay away from trails over 7000 feet. Conditions vary and can be quite hazardous. Call your local ranger station for updates as the season progresses.</p>
<p>ROADS INFORMATION:<br />
Roads are open but they’re still wet and muddy. If a road is snow covered, you should turn back. The terrain is hazardous for drivers and hikers. Some roads have been signed “closed” due to conditions. Use caution and, please, do not drive around these signs.</p>
<h4>Highway 75 Area– PARTIALLY OPEN</h4>
<p>Nip and Tuck Road in Lower Stanley open 2.4 miles<br />

Buckhorn (Access to Summer Cabins)<br />
Alturas Lake Road open to Alpine Creek Trailhead.<br />
North Fork Canyon Road<br />
Prairie Creek Road open ¾ mile to Harriman Trail Trailhead<br />
Quadrant Gulch Road open about a mile.<br />
Anderson Creek Road is open a ½ mile to Harriman Trail<br />
Silver Creek Road is open to the big meadow<br />

<p>CAMPGROUNDS Call 1-877-444-6777 or go to www.recreation.gov. Campground sites can be booked up to 180 days in advance and group campsites and picnic areas can be booked up to 360 days in advance. In addition to reservable campsites, many are first come first serve. Dispersed camping is also available. To make a reservation call; 877-444-6777 or go online at www.recreation.gov. Reservations CAN NOT  be made at local forest service offices or individual campgrounds and have to be a minimum of 4 days prior to reservation date.<br />

<p>The Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association bookstore has increased its choice of books and other items that available for sale at the Stanley Ranger Station, The Sawtooth NRA Visitor Center and the Ketchum Ranger Station</p>
